Homespun Holiday

dEb here with a quick card AND a way to be green all at the same time.... I absolutely love the holidays.. Christmas patterned papers, holiday rubber stamps, my new Tim Holtz poinsettia die . I love holiday lights, classic Christmas movies ( Elf and A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim )  & quirky Christmas movies ( The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Family Stone ). I am also a hoarder of Christmas cards that I receive from my friends.. There, I admitted it !! I have cards from friends near and far; and I cherish each and every one of them.. I keep them year to year but eventually do send most to the recycle bin.. Some, however, I have kept for years. This year as I was heading to recycle with last year's cards, in anticipation of receiving new ones this year, I had a thought... Why not make cards out of them ???  I know I am not the first person to do this but I think my efforts might be a bit unique.

I started with a kraft card, got out my 1" circle punch and went to town. I used a fun sentiment from Unity Stamp Company's "Stay Cozy" and finished with a doily half and half of a 2.5" circle. The dotted paper is from We R Memory Keeper's "Winter Frost" collection. Thanks to Brian, Bonnie, Lisa, Jacky, Donna and Meredith for helping me make memories - AND cards !!

Just for fun - TREES

We decided with all the craziness of Black Friday, that we would do a challenge just for fun. The theme of this just for fun challenge is TREES.

My family waits until the day after Thanksgiving  to put up our Christmas tree. One holiday at a time you know. I made this Christmas tree card for my daughter to put on her desk in her dorm room. You can read more about it on MY BLOG.  I hope you will come read about how I made my card.

As soon as I heard that our just-for-fun challenge was TREES, I thought of one of my favorite dies,
Impression Obsession's "Tree Line". I popped the die-cut up with dimensionals and love how the shadows look behind the die-cut image.. Visit Meticulosity to see the other supplies I used. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving..Now it's time to put on some holiday music and get the tree decorated..

Growing up in upstate New York, I was surrounded by majestic, stately trees.  And, the first snow on those beauties was always a site to behold.  I miss it so much, living in the South now, but the memories are always there.  Hold on to your memories;  they make you smile when you least expect it.
TERRI

Hi! Pam here. Every year, my daughter Bailey is gaga over decorating. True to form, she was decorating for Christmas this morning and we still had some fall decorations hanging around for our Thanksgiving feast. I have so much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.....especially that my health is on the mend and I get to spend the holidays with wonderful family and friends!  So grateful for each and every person that has touched my life!
Check out my card deets on my blog!

The last few years we haven't had a tree at our house. Our artificial one looks horrible & needs to be thrown out, we used it for 10+ years so I guess we got our money's worth out of it & none of us are sorry to see it go. The past two years, we've been using homemade trees! My husband made his from wood in his shop and it looks like a miniature tree painted green (very traditional); my younger son did the Charlie Brown-type tree using PVC as the center post with wood "arms" gong to each side that he will hang the smaller decorations on; my older son got very creative & made his tree using used guitar strings, an old tin, and a pick as the "star" - it's pretty neat. My tree was a "ribbon" tree suspended from the ceiling... a total flop as far as trees are concerned. We have no clue what we're doing this year!

My Take on "The Shake"....

dEb here and I have a confession to make..... I absolutely LOVE shaker cards... I watch how-to videos, collect pictures of them, find them on Pinterest etc.... I have everything I need to make them.. Just bought the foam mounting tape last week. Sat down to make one this morning and somehow got distracted by these cute little envelopes I have had for awhile...Does this happen to any of you ?? I call it my Creative ADD...  I sit down to make 1 thing that is all settled in my mind and end up with something completely different... Like today's Shaker card... I had some of my Project Life  journal cards on my desk and put it in the clear envelope..Perfect fit--even had enough room to fold the end back... Then I spotted the literally thousands of sequins I have and VOILA !! My card was born..  The supplies were meant to go together.. It was like peanut butter & jelly, Barnes & Noble, Ben & Jerry's ..... I am already thinking ahead to more of these cards... I have some fabulous metallic sequins. They would be great for beachy cards... I can envision autumn colors, Christmas -- the possibilities are endless.... I still want to try a traditional shaker card but I am thrilled with MY take on the "shake"....Now if only I could remember where I got those little envelopes... Google, here I come !!
