Celebrate National Scrapbooking Day With Mountain Plains Crafters!

We're so excited to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day at Mountain Plains Crafters.  All the action is happening on our Community Facebook page here:

We have a wonderful prize sponsored by Lawn Fawn, a stamp set of your choosing!  How awesome is that?  You get to pick the prize!  So what do you have to do to qualify?  First, be sure you "like" us on our Facebook page, then head over to Lawn Fawn on FB and tell them MPC sent you (not required but they'd love to hear from you!)

Be sure and comment on one or all of our trivia questions throughout the weekend.  Please only comment once per question, however each question you answer, earns you an entry!  Our design team has chosen the theme, "Creating with Paper Bags".  Yes, we're doing a little upcycling and making fun things with paper bags.  Be sure and visit their blogs below and show a little love.
Check in throughout the day Saturday and Sunday, answer the questions and we'll announce a winner on Monday.  The contest ends Sunday, May 3rd at midnight ET.   OPEN TO INTERNATIONAL! YES!

Happy NSD!  I've made a set of ATC cards for those of you who scrapbook "Project Life" style with pocket scrapping.  My theme is Garden and each one is different, but they are all made using paper bags (even the quilled flowers!)  So check out my blog if you'd like more details, by clicking on my name:

Happy National Scrapbooking Day to everyone !! I have been wanting to start journaling, so what better time than NOW !!  Small lunch sacks were the perfect paper for me to use because it gives me a great medium to emboss, distress, color on, paint etc.without adding too much thickness to a journal... One of my favorite papers is Kraft so this was a great theme for me. Check out my BLOG for some of the other pages I made..

I made assorted paper bag flowers! Check it out on my blog!

I made a paper bag album. It was a lot more work than I expected but I love how it turned out.

I made a paper bag album for my nephew.  These take such a long time but are so much fun to make.  Come check out my blog to see more pages.  Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Quest for CHA and Countdown

A few weeks ago, I shared my dream about trying to get into the Craft and Hobby Association's Inaugural Papercrafters Trade show in Atlanta.

I've been blogging daily on my personal blog, wavingmywand.blogspot.com and sharing on the Mountain Plains Crafters Facebook page, but if you've missed both, here's your update.  Yes, I'm going!  And the countdown has begun.  CHA liked my quest and asked me to be guest blogger and show photographer.  So be sure and.visit MPC on Facebook for more updates.

Also, stay tuned for a fun blog hop coming up this week from our design team.  It's all about Christmas in July!  And a prize of course.  Details soon.

Father's Day Inspiration

In tribute to all those amazing dads out there, here's a little inspiration from our design team to get your crafty juices flowing.  Happy Father's Day!

Two simple cards yet so purposeful.  Both of these took me only about 30 minutes to make.  My dad loves motorcycles and traveling the states on his.  My father-in-law loves to travel in his RV.  Ok...so it's not an RV lol.  Unity doesn't have an RV stamp.  But he'll get the meaning behind it.

My father died when I was 16.. Some of my earliest memories of him are sitting on his lap while he read to me and later walking to the library with him while he held my hand. Wish I could have shared Harry Potter with him and some of the latest mysteries I have read. He passed his love of books on to me and this card is for him....

Jennifer here to share a cup of coffee with you this sunny Sunday morning! I was bit by the coloring bug recently and Unity Stamp's new Kimmie Girl (who I am totally renaming Jenny Girl...just saying...) was one of the results. Oh yes, self-portrait via a stamp and some markers; love it!

Supplies: Unity Stamp Co. Kimmie Girl, May Arts pink bow ribbon, chocolate brown ribbon from Michael's, Spectrum Noir markers, red Spica pen, card stock from PaperandMore.com

A Mix of Gladiolus

Wow! I have never done this many challenges at one time. I did it with MariLynn's encouragement. We decided to use the same stamp set....we'll see how hers comes out as she makes some rocking pieces of artwork. This was made for the sketch challenge, for the ways to use it which was to use our birth flower...mine is gladiolus. Also done for the free for all which is delightfully rumpled...I am always a fan of distressing and our MIX today is to take it away. This part I struggled with a bit and I have paint up to my elbows to prove it! About my 6th attempt, I was happy. I finally decided to paint a piece of gumball card stock, emboss it and then sand the black away...I like how it came out. I heated the ribbon up to give it a "rumpled" look, too. I also splattered some thinned white acrylic paint with a toothbrush and added black stickler to the flowers.
I miss crafting...where do the hours in the day go?

Know Who You Are

Well to our new adventure!  Soon we will be coming to you with challenges and prizes to go along with those challenges!
We all look forward to a fun experience here at Mountain Plains Crafters!

I got a fun job at a local clothing store and the BIG bonus, 40% off! The girls know that any scraps of material...I will take home. One of my coworkers brought this fun piece of cloth to me from home. I mod-podged under and over it and had to wait 4ever for it to dry! Used this awesome itty bitty sentiment. The sentiments are what led me to Unity. I used some of my hand-quilled roses, embroidery thread and the leaf emboss lit.

Have a great Wednesday!
I have to run pack.

Pam
