Good morning, MPC peeps!  I thought I'd posted here yesterday and to my surprise, there was nothing here!  Oops. Anywho, check out my blog; Mustang Creations each day this week (M-F) to be eligible to win two free itty bitty's of your choice from Unity. Today my project is a diaper fold creation...here is a sneak of it.

A challenge....a recipe

Hello all!

I have been out of commission for a while. Hospitalized for a time and a pending surgery coming up. I needed some "me" time to play and reflect on all that I love. MariLynn and I try to touch base on a daily basis and I have her to thank for this creation. Her challenge for us was a "recipe". She picked two criteria and I picked two. MariLynn chose butterflies and pearls and I chose (forgetting I'd done something quite similar) the color teal and lace. I used a variety of dp and a piece of dictionary page. I sponged around the papers before I matte mod podged them onto the paper. The butterflies were cut from different dps with the exception of the light blue one with pearls (that is the SU! embosslit). I used the Unity stamps Art & Possibility, The Time is Now and an itty bitty. Also used Elements of Style from SU. I managed teal with bermuda bay ink, black ink for other stamping. Teal pearls were used on the body of my centerpiece butterfly and then white pearls for a trail. Teal lace in two different colors and an antique brad. Clear snap shiny spray was painted on the butterfly and sentiment. None of my glittery sprays work....suggestions...I believe I have tried them all!

This is MariLynn. This is my card that I made using the recipe of butterflies, pearls, teal and lace. I used this week's MojoMonday 369 sketch for my card. I took a piece of teal cardstock. I embossed it with my french script embossing folder and my cuttlebug. I then covered that teal cardstock with glue encyclopedia scraps and  white paint. I wanted it to dry quickly so I put it on a foil lined cookie sheet and I put it in my oven. It dried in 2 mins. I was very happy with the results. I might have to try it again. I let it cool and I used a stencil and copper inka gold. I also took gold paint and went over the embossed script. I cut it into thirds. I wanted to have my pearls for my butterfly trails. I only had straight pearl strips. So I cut each pearl apart and using tweezers and put them down one at a time. It was fun playing with this recipe. If you would like to play along. All for fun of course,  be sure to include 1. Butterflies  2. Pearls  3. Teal  4 Lace on your card and link it in the comments section.

Tribute to a friend

MariLynn posted a card on her blog the other day casing me and it can be found on her blog Mississippi McGyver. As she said, on Sundays at Split Coast Stampers, members are featured and we are encouraged to case something from the featured stampers' gallery. Neither one of us have ever been chosen so on Monday, we decided to case one another. I love MariLynn's style. Lots of layers, colors (loves blue) and butterflies. Butterflies are always a must. I did a technique called serendipity squares which can be found here and cased these two creations; MIX64 Hello Spring and He made all things beautiful and tried to capture her love of butterflies, burlap, flowers and layers. I used a scrap of gorgeous dp on my desk and went to work. I used the swirl embossing folder and then Inca Gold in gold, green and blue on embossed areas. Also, used Elements of Style  and embossed it with a distressed green ep. I almost forgot, I managed to fit in the TLC from Monday on SCS TLC503....to use a pencil eraser somehow on our projects...my butterfly trails are pencil erasers stamped in versa mark and embossed in gold. I am thankful for all of my stamping friends and their friendship!

Have a lovely day!

Love Never Fails

Happy day to everyone out in blogland! Don't fall off of your chairs...yes, I made a card. Quite therapeutic! I made this with Unity's Love Never Fails in honor of my parents. It would've been there 65th wedding anniversary on the 16th. I used a gifted encyclopedia page from the awesome MariLynn and went to work. I stamped in versa mark and embossed in black. The roses and butterflies were done with pearlescent watercolors. I hand quilled some roses with pearlescent watercolors as well, some burlap and some fun fibers, too. One section was dry embossed and then I added blue Inca Gold.......my mom loved blue!
Sorry for the whacky writing....I am out of practice!

Happy Wednesday!

Christina here from the MPC DT! My mom has been having a rough time at work with some of her coworkers and has been a bit down in the dumps about everything, so I decided to make her something she can have at her desk and look at when it seems like things are bad. I believe the power of positive thinking is strong and we could all use a little help with that now and then!

I really love this sentiment from the Unity Lasting Thoughts kit. It was so easy to let the sentiment take center stage with a little bit of glitter to highlight the stars. I topped off this simple card with a little bit of May Arts black baker's twine. If you haven't tried May Arts' baker's twine, you need to! It's a nice heavy weight with a smooth finish and perfect for cardmaking!

Hope you liked this simple and quick card; thanks for stopping by! :)

A Pillow inspired dragonfly

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO LAST MONDAY'S POST TO PLAY IN OUR FIRST INSPIRATION CHALLENGE AND YOU MIGHT WIN!
I did this for the mix challenge from Friday on Split Coast Stampers which was to incorporate a flying object and their inspiration challenge today is the World Market. I chose this throw pillow
http://www.worldmarket.com/product/d...ow.do?&from=fn
I stamped my image in versa mark on mixed media paper and then embossed in olive. Using a combination of watercolors and markers, I colored in my dragonfly. Next, I colored the bg with the starfruit marker...then using my wet finger, blended the starfruit a bit. Some gold glimmer mist was added and purposely dripping a few spots. The encyclopedia page was randomly sponged, crumbled and then dragged through the tempting turquoise pad, ripped and put on layer of card stock using modpodge. Once that was dry, I added the twine after it was dragged through turquoise pad and then sprayed some more glimmer mist. Ribbon, handquilled roses, a shimmered up chipboard heart, button, embroidery thread help to finish it off!
Have a beautiful Saturday everyone!!!!!

Sunday crafting

I am missing crafting. I usually always finish what I've started...but I have a pile gathering of unfinished projects. Simply haven't had the time I would like to devote to it! With that said, I made this crayon bg for the mix this past Friday's Mix challenge-to use crayons on our projects. I used crayon shavings, heated with my heat gun and then smeared the colors around with a tissue. I repeated it until I liked the look. I decided to use this bg to make my card in honor of our featured stamper Catluvr2 on Splitcoaststampers this week...she does beautiful work and I chose this card: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...&ppuser=334464
Obviously, I changed the bg, the flourishes, the butterfly to a bird and the sentiment. Also, changed the direction the flourishes were going.

I used Unity stamps-Birdie Inspiration and Empowered Words, craft white ink, white ep, word label punch, white ribbon and the tulip ef
Enjoy your week!

Pointillism

Happy day to all the people out in blogland. I have been absent lately, but hope to start getting my groove on! Looking forward to this new adventure with my girls~~~
I made this card using the 2014 April KOTM from Unity. In addition, I used a couple of freebies from them-the sentiment and the button. This card was made for the TLC477 challenge on SCS-pointillism. I cut a piece of white card stock and used marina mist to make my little dots all over the bg of my image. Next, I sponged some marina mist and stamped the image. The dragonfly was done with pink passion, marina mist and then I used a thin layer of light blue pearlescent watercolors on it. A sheet of dp, some burlap, embroidery thread and twine and lastly, a button.
Have a great day!

Know Who You Are

Well to our new adventure!  Soon we will be coming to you with challenges and prizes to go along with those challenges!
We all look forward to a fun experience here at Mountain Plains Crafters!

I got a fun job at a local clothing store and the BIG bonus, 40% off! The girls know that any scraps of material...I will take home. One of my coworkers brought this fun piece of cloth to me from home. I mod-podged under and over it and had to wait 4ever for it to dry! Used this awesome itty bitty sentiment. The sentiments are what led me to Unity. I used some of my hand-quilled roses, embroidery thread and the leaf emboss lit.

Have a great Wednesday!
I have to run pack.
