Beachy Tropical card

Who's ready for a summer beach trip?  Me!  Am I going?  I wish......(sigh).  But...we are taking a mini trip in July to visit family and there will be swimming involved, so guess this card is the closest I'll get to a beach experience anytime soon.  Happy jumpstart to vacation everyone!    Terri

Twinkling Love card

I got to put my new shimmering watercolors to use last night.  Gotta say, I love when Dad takes the boy to baseball practice and I have time to get crafty!  The watercolors are Twinkling H20's by Luminarts, and the stamped images are from the Unity Stamp Company, Twinkle Twinkle and a Phyllis Harris sentiment.  That luscious polka dot paper is from Graphic 45's Sweet Sentiment collection.  Enjoy your weekend and don't forget, tomorrow is the last day to enter our May Challenge Giveaway.

Lawn Fawn Challenge ~ WIN Stamp Set AND Paper!!!

Have you ever had a fawn on your lawn?  How about a deer?  I've had a deer on mine.  They are such beautiful creatures.  So peaceful and innocent.  Have you ever sprawled out on your lawn and stared at the sky and watched the clouds float by?  Or try to make shapes of them?  It's almost like a tranquil meditation moment for me.

Anyway...DID YOU KNOW:

  • The first lawn mower was invented by an Englishman, Edwin Beard Budding. Patented in 1830, Budding got the original idea from watching a cutting cylinder at a local cloth mill.
  • Of the roughly 50 million acres of grass in the United States, roughly 21 million of those acres are private lawns.
  • Lawns are great at producing oxygen. A 50-foot by 50-foot lawn can release enough oxygen throughout the day for the needs of one person.
and
  • Fawns average about 300 white spots.
  • Except for nursing two to four times a day, a fawn spends the first four weeks of life in hiding, separated from the doe.
  • Healthy fawns can outrun a man when only a few days old, but it generally takes three to six weeks before they can elude most predators.
So why all this useless trivia?  Or maybe not-so useless...who knows.  I find stuff like this entertaining.  Anyway...

Our next challenge is brought to you by our donating sponsor

Lawn Fawn.  They have generously offered a wonderful prize of a 6x6 Paper Pad and a stamp set of your choosing.

So here are the details:

Create a project that has to do with a Lawn...(not blades of grass or wisps of it....but a lawn) and/or a Fawn/deer.  You can do either...or combine them both.  As long as you have a Lawn or a Fawn.  Winner will be chosen at RANDOM by a number generator. This is a two week challenge....so not too much time.  Hurry hurry.  And please tell your friends to play too.  The more the merrier :) Deadline is May 31st at 11:59pm Mountain Time. Projects must be current.  No backlinking, please.

Here are some examples from our FABULOUS design team to get you motivated and help inspire you.

Good luck and HAPPY CRAFTING!!

This makes me glad

This morning Pam and I decided to use the same technique, same sketch and same stamps (the gladiolus)
It was fun to see how different they turned out.

Thanks for taking a look.
~MariLynn~

A Mix of Gladiolus

Wow! I have never done this many challenges at one time. I did it with MariLynn's encouragement. We decided to use the same stamp set....we'll see how hers comes out as she makes some rocking pieces of artwork. This was made for the sketch challenge, for the ways to use it which was to use our birth flower...mine is gladiolus. Also done for the free for all which is delightfully rumpled...I am always a fan of distressing and our MIX today is to take it away. This part I struggled with a bit and I have paint up to my elbows to prove it! About my 6th attempt, I was happy. I finally decided to paint a piece of gumball card stock, emboss it and then sand the black away...I like how it came out. I heated the ribbon up to give it a "rumpled" look, too. I also splattered some thinned white acrylic paint with a toothbrush and added black stickler to the flowers.
I miss crafting...where do the hours in the day go?

~Pam

A Pillow inspired dragonfly

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO LAST MONDAY'S POST TO PLAY IN OUR FIRST INSPIRATION CHALLENGE AND YOU MIGHT WIN!
I did this for the mix challenge from Friday on Split Coast Stampers which was to incorporate a flying object and their inspiration challenge today is the World Market. I chose this throw pillow
http://www.worldmarket.com/product/d...ow.do?&from=fn
I stamped my image in versa mark on mixed media paper and then embossed in olive. Using a combination of watercolors and markers, I colored in my dragonfly. Next, I colored the bg with the starfruit marker...then using my wet finger, blended the starfruit a bit. Some gold glimmer mist was added and purposely dripping a few spots. The encyclopedia page was randomly sponged, crumbled and then dragged through the tempting turquoise pad, ripped and put on layer of card stock using modpodge. Once that was dry, I added the twine after it was dragged through turquoise pad and then sprayed some more glimmer mist. Ribbon, handquilled roses, a shimmered up chipboard heart, button, embroidery thread help to finish it off!
Have a beautiful Saturday everyone!!!!!
