Long lost crafting time

As I said in an earlier post, I have not been getting any craft time. I made this back in March as I used Unity's March 2014 KOTM. ....bad girl. I like to finish what I've started in one sitting. The sentiment is SU~Elements of Style. Added some glitter for interest.

Splitcoast color challenge and dirty dozen April showers challenge

I made this for the color challenge and the Dirty Dozen challenge. Tuesday's colors were pacific point, real red and pumpkin pie. For the Dirty dozen, I did April showers by doing a random layer of UTEE for a wet look on my flowers

Sunday crafting

I am missing crafting. I usually always finish what I've started...but I have a pile gathering of unfinished projects. Simply haven't had the time I would like to devote to it! With that said, I made this crayon bg for the mix this past Friday's Mix challenge-to use crayons on our projects. I used crayon shavings, heated with my heat gun and then smeared the colors around with a tissue. I repeated it until I liked the look. I decided to use this bg to make my card in honor of our featured stamper Catluvr2 on Splitcoaststampers this week...she does beautiful work and I chose this card: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...&ppuser=334464
Obviously, I changed the bg, the flourishes, the butterfly to a bird and the sentiment. Also, changed the direction the flourishes were going.

I used Unity stamps-Birdie Inspiration and Empowered Words, craft white ink, white ep, word label punch, white ribbon and the tulip ef
Enjoy your week!

Delight in the Lord

Here's a lovely scripture card using the biblical verse, Psalm 37:4. This sentiment and heart stamp are from the Unity Stamp Co kit called "Devoted".  It's such a wonderful set with several different scriptures.  I adore it!

I also tried something new.  I made some watercolor paper and used bubble wrap for a unique look.  Just take several colors of ink and blot on the bubble wrap, then spray with misted water.  Press a piece of white cardstock into your mix.   Repeat inking and pressing until you have the coverage you want, then let your paper dry.  I guarantee you'll have fun with the process! If you look at the close-up, you'll see Smooch Glitz glitter polish on the sentiment and details on the heart which, by the way, were heat embossed.  The May Arts Ribbon is the perfect compliment.  Happy crafting!

A color challenge creation

Love Thy Neighbour

Sometimes it's nice to recognize a great neighbour.  I have a few that I really cherish, so I decided to make them a card to let them know how much I appreciate them.  How about you?  Do you appreciate yours?  How about letting them know that and make them a sweet card.

Just you and Me....

I posted this over at my personal blog, Waving My Wand, but wanted to share it here with you.  Isn't it nice to just get away with the one you love.  Hey, I've been married 30 years (yeah, he robbed the cradle...) and that spark is really hard to maintain.  Some of you may have given up on keeping that spark going but it's never too late!  And yes, I have to tell myself that ALL the time.  Ha!  Anyway, I've entered this card in a couple challenges over at the Unity Stamp Company on their blog.  The sentiment is from a Unity stamp kit made by artist Phyllis Harris called "And for a Moment".  Go check out Unity and get involved if you love to make cards or scrap or do mixed media....  Unity is a great place to make friends.  Visit their blog and their Facebook  page too.  Lots of inspiration!!

Outside the Box - It is Spring

I call this card OUTSIDE THE BOX -IT IS SPRING. I have been stamping and making cards for almost 20 years.  Creating is one of my passions. I made a card last week that I really liked.I posted it on Splitcoast Stampers.  Someone left me a comment on that card, about my "signature look". As I thought about that comment, I realized it was really a statement about how I was getting into a rut. So today I decided to make a card and to try to do lots of new things and to try and make it different from other cards that I have made recently.

My biggest step outside my comfort zone was to make a card that for the most part is flat. I love making dimensional cards.(the kind that cost a lot to mail) I don't remember the last time I made a card that I didn't cut the butterflies out and have them looking like they just landed on the paper.
How I made this card. I took an encyclopedia page. I glued some sheet music to the top and bottom. I printed a scripture (Song of Solomon 2-10-13)  and glued that to the page. I stamped flourishes. I also stamped two butterflies and cut them out and glued them down.( I quickly cut them and this left a little bit of a halo-something I would do different next time.) Then I scanned the page with the elements using my computer and I shrank it to fit on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card I printed it on plain white cardstock.

I watercolored the background and  the butterflies. I stamped the flowers . The flowers are mostly a silhouette so I took white paint and went over the flowers. Then I added color over the white. I used stamps to add the "hello" and "spring". I added highlights with a white colored pencil. I matted the card with a piece of black cardstock. I used deckle edges scissors. I went over the edges with the white colored pencil to look kinda like chalk on a chalk board.

When was the last time you tried something NEW or DIFFERENT?  Maybe today is the day to do that.

Make a circle punch flower card

I've seen these tutorials numerous times and always wanted to try to make one.  So I did a little googling and came across this post from Weekly Scrapper.  LeeAnn goes into a lot more detail than I'm about to, but I think I've simplified it a bit.

First, punch out 6 circles with your 2" or 3" circle punch.  Make sure you use double sided paper.  Mine has a floral design on one side.  (Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments paper.  Love!)  Then, fold them into a cone shape as pictured.  Line them up in a circle, edge to edge and glue/adhere them to a doily or your paper of choice.

Here is the finished product:

I made a tag also and used a Mother's Day sentiment from Unity Stamps (Mother's Day Daisies kit Stamp of the Week Collection) but you could use Happy Birthday or really any sentiment of choice.  And the cute little pink pom pom in the middle?  You can find that at May Arts Ribbon

Embossed Baby Girl card

This is a sweet baby girl card that was embossed using a Cuttlebug.  Have you ever inked up your embossing folder?  Just take your ink pad and press against the top inside of your embossing folder.  I used 4 different inks on this card.  I ran cardstock through the Cuttlebug rather than the card itself and layered it to the card.  I use baby wipes to clean the embossing folder when I'm done.   Sweet!

Pointillism

Happy day to all the people out in blogland. I have been absent lately, but hope to start getting my groove on! Looking forward to this new adventure with my girls~~~
I made this card using the 2014 April KOTM from Unity. In addition, I used a couple of freebies from them-the sentiment and the button. This card was made for the TLC477 challenge on SCS-pointillism. I cut a piece of white card stock and used marina mist to make my little dots all over the bg of my image. Next, I sponged some marina mist and stamped the image. The dragonfly was done with pink passion, marina mist and then I used a thin layer of light blue pearlescent watercolors on it. A sheet of dp, some burlap, embroidery thread and twine and lastly, a button.
Have a great day!

Sunset Scripture card

Terri here, with a peaceful watercolor card.  I admit, although I have some art background, it's mostly in sketching, not painting but I really like how this turned out.  I used a couple Unity Stamps, Feeling the Joy and Vintage Scripture and free-handed the birds.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  Hope you like it too!

Know Who You Are

Well to our new adventure!  Soon we will be coming to you with challenges and prizes to go along with those challenges!
We all look forward to a fun experience here at Mountain Plains Crafters!

I got a fun job at a local clothing store and the BIG bonus, 40% off! The girls know that any scraps of material...I will take home. One of my coworkers brought this fun piece of cloth to me from home. I mod-podged under and over it and had to wait 4ever for it to dry! Used this awesome itty bitty sentiment. The sentiments are what led me to Unity. I used some of my hand-quilled roses, embroidery thread and the leaf emboss lit.

Have a great Wednesday!
I have to run pack.
